BB7 launches new Façade Access and Maintenance Consultancy
We’re proud to announce the launch of our Façade Access and Maintenance Consultancy service line, an exciting new addition to BB7’s extensive expertise.
The new service line is led by Liam Shepherd BEng MIET, a respected figure in the industry with almost two decades of specialist experience in façade access design and strategic consultancy. Liam brings with him a strong track record of building and leading façade access departments at several major engineering firms, including Wintech and D2E.
With a background in architectural engineering, Liam has delivered façade access strategies for some of the UK and Middle East’s most complex and iconic buildings, from Battersea Power Station and Piccadilly Lights, to Dubai Design District and 70 St Mary Axe. He has notably presented a technical paper titled ‘Key Considerations for Cleaning and Maintenance Strategies in Dense Vertical Urban Environments’ in Shenzhen, China and Hong Kong, and is a Level 1 Qualified Rope Access Technician (IRATA) – one of the first Façade Access Consultant in the UK to have achieved this. Liam’s appointment marks a significant step in BB7’s ambition to offer truly integrated consultancy services across the business.
The new façade access service will support architects, developers, main contractors and property managers with access strategies that are bespoke, coordinated, and compliant, from concept through to construction – and beyond.

With building heights increasing and façade geometries becoming more complex, the need for robust and well-integrated access strategies is more crucial than ever. Currently based in Edinburgh and London, Liam and the new team will work closely with BB7’s established fire safety and façade teams to ensure clients benefit from a collaborative approach. While the service will be delivered across the UK and Ireland, the team is also equipped to support international projects, with plans to expand across BB7’s wider office network as the service line grows.
