Project overview
BB7 acted in the role of Assigned Certifier for the construction of Tirlans new headquarters and collaboration hub in Kilkenny City. Tirlan, the world-class food and nutrition co-operative with sales revenue of over €3 billion will have a new headquarters and collaborative hub located in the beautiful and historic Abbey Quarter, Kilkenny City.
Project Scope
Set in the beautiful and historic Abbey Quarter, Kilkenny City this fabulous commercial development will provide state of the art offices for our client Tirlan. The workspace will have capacity for over 300 employees and is designed as a flexible, collaborative office to support blended working, with particular emphasis on collaboration space for cross-functional teams. The office building has achieved Gold Accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and incorporates sustainable design and materials, in line with Tirlán’s Ireland carbon reduction goals as set out in its recently-launched ‘Living Proof’ sustainability strategy.
The BB7 response
Our role is to ensure that the following is carried out and achieved:
- Create and manage the BCMS Commencement Notice or 7 Days Notice with the Local Building Control Authority;
- Prepare an Inspection Plan and carry out periodic inspections on site;
- Meet with the Design Team and clarify all Design Team members’ roles in terms of design and certification. All Designers will be required to inspect and certify, through Ancillary Certificates, their design elements as they are constructed;
- Meet with the Contractor for familiarisation of the construction works program and clarify the Contractor’s role in terms of inspection and certification;
- Liaise with the Design Team and Contractor to ensure their inspections are carried out at key milestones and all Ancillary Certification is in order;
- Creation of Annex of Documents and Certification package for submission of the Certificate of Compliance on Completion;
- Sign the Certificate of Compliance on Completion along with the Contractor on satisfactory completion of the works;
- Notify the Building Control Authority before the completion of works so that the finished buildings are entered onto the Register without delay.
