BB7 provided fire safety advice on Shard Place, providing a fire safety strategy and drawings to client to help meet the design requirements.

Project scope

Shard Place is a high-rise residential tower, located between the Shard and the Place building in London. The building consists of 27 stories above ground consisting primarily of residential apartments except for the following: Level 27 comprises of a swimming pool area, terrace spaces and plant. Level 16 & 17 consist of both residential apartments and amenity spaces. Level 04 is to consist of amenity/plant spaces. Levels 01-03 consists of retail areas, BOH areas and the main reception space (level 02). Level 00 consists of a parking/loading bay area, retail units and BOH areas. The building is also provided with a single basement level.

The BB7 response

In order to meet the design requirements from the client, BB7 provided support with technical notes and liaised with the design team to find a solution that met both the fire safety requirements and design requirements. In order to deliver, BB7 provided a fire safety strategy, whilst communicating with Building Control and the London Fire Brigade.
