The BB7 response

BB7 reviewed the design of the development floor-by-floor and tailored a fire safety plan to the complex construction programme that had been developed across the site. The safety of the construction site was assessed over four separate risk phases at each level to reflect the main stages of the construction process for the development. At each risk phase, a bespoke fire safety plan was developed on the floor plans to illustrate the fire safety measures that were required at each stage of the design. The plans were then culminated into a detailed fire safety report to describe the fire safety measures that will be implemented on site during the construction process.

BB7 worked closely with Multiplex over the course of a year to develop a construction fire safety plan that was uniquely tailored to the challenging construction schedule for the development. By liaising with the client at regular intervals, BB7 were able to balance the need to integrate the highest levels of fire safety whilst also remaining conscious of the operational and economical constraints of the construction process on site.

Due to the complexity of the site, it was anticipated that the construction process of the towers would adapt as the project progressed. As such, BB7’s construction fire safety plan was considered as a ‘live document’ and has therefore been updated over the course of the construction period to reflect the current strategies and processes being implemented on site. This has ensured that the content of the document remains relevant to the site at all times. Following issue of the document, BB7 work closely with the client to answer any queries and ensure that all parties have a full understanding of the document.
