Chadik Miah joins BB7 as Associate Director for Security Engineering

Chadik is a Chartered Engineer with many years of experience working in design and engineering consultancies. His appointment will strengthen both BB7’s blast engineering and physical security propositions.

After graduating with a BEng Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, which he studied part time whilst working as a Retail Manager, Chadik joined Atkins as a Graduate Engineer and initially developed a specialist technical background in structural and mechanical integrity analysis and design.

His role focused on the design and analysis of pipework systems, mechanical handling equipment, shock and vibration systems and blast and seismic resistant structures. Typical applications he worked on include district cooling pipework, rapid ventilation safety systems, electric overhead travelling cranes, structural steelwork and reinforced concrete structures.

At first, the blast analysis and design work Chadik undertook were based on accidental blast events. This later diversified into the blast effects assessment, design and development of risk mitigation strategies from a counterterrorism perspective. Through this work, he acquired a real passion for protective security and subsequently moved to the Security Consultancy department of Atkins as a Security Consultant.

There his role focused on security threat risk assessments, security surveys and audits, operational requirements, security masterplanning and various aspects of physical security design including blast and ballistic protection, hostile vehicle mitigation and building and perimeter protection. Prior to joining BB7, Chadik was appointed by Capita Property and Infrastructure as a Senior Security Consultant to develop their physical security proposition.

During his career, Chadik has gained extensive experience in working on major multidisciplinary projects across a broad range of industry sectors and has engaged and managed a multitude of clients, engineers, architects, suppliers and stakeholders often with complex and conflicting requirements to develop the most optimal design solutions.

He has also successfully delivered project management and technical lead roles on several high-profile projects including the London 2012 Olympic Games, Birmingham New Street Station, Sellafield and Parliamentary Estates.

Ben Bradford says ‘I am thrilled to have Chadik join our Security Engineering team. We’ve recently been appointed on a number of prestigious international projects that require security master-planning and various aspects of physical security design including blast and ballistic protection, hostile vehicle mitigation and building and perimeter protection.  It’s great to have Chadik on board.’
