Aside from delivering ad-hoc fire risk assessments, managing large national fire risk assessment contracts, auditing fire risk assessments and developing our new fire risk management system software (Go Pad), Jamie has been undertaking gap analysis exercises for clients seeking to understand their preparedness for PAS 7 fire risk management system certification.Jamie is responsible for technical excellence, thought leadership and profitable sales of our fire risk management service portfolio. Day to day he works with our fire risk management team, undertaking fire risk management audits and helping clients draft policy, strategy and procedures.
Prior to joining BB7, Jamie spent two years working as a fire safety consultant for CS Todd & Associates; he graduated with a First Class honours degree in Fire Safety Engineering and being awarded the Certificate of Excellence from the University of South Wales.
Before moving into the private sector, Jamie spent 12 years with Kent Fire and Rescue service in an operational and fire safety capacity.
Jamie’s last full-time post within Kent Fire and Rescue Service was in charge of the enforcement department, as the lead investigating officer for alleged offences under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. During this time, Jamie was responsible for investigating and managing potential prosecution cases on behalf of the fire authority.
Jamie has also provided technical support and project management to major fire safety projects, such as the premises risk management project, automatic fire alarm response project and fire safety co-ordination at major events.
Due to the secondment of the latter project, Jamie was the lead officer for overseeing the fire safety arrangements at all major events west of the County of Kent. These events included major music festivals and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic events.
Being a NEBOSH accredited trainer, delivering the national certificate in fire and risk management, Jamie has also provided additional fire safety and risk management training to some UK Fire and Rescue services, London Underground, independent consultancies and the Health and Safety Executive. Additionally, Jamie has been a guest speaker for various organisations, including the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Jamie’s professional passion includes managing the fire safety of heritage buildings, having provided advice and conducted risk assessments on many heritage listed buildings of national importance.
Recently Jamie has acted as expert witness for the High Court of Justice in a fire risk management dispute, providing an opinion to the adequacy of fire safety arrangements and joint expert in another litigation case surrounding construction deficiencies.
